This article will show you how to customize which data is displayed on the main map on the web.
Show or Hide All of a Type of Data
You can show or hide all Tracks, Routes, Areas, Waypoints, and Saved Trails from the Saved Items section in the left sidebar.
By default, all of your saved data is visible on the main map view, but you can show or hide a specific data overlay by following these steps:
1. Click the Saved folder icon in the left sidebar.
2. Click the eye icon next to a Saved Item category to turn a data overlay on or off.
The eye icon indicates that all of a specific data category is visible on the map
The eye with a slash indicates that all of a data category is hidden on the map.
For example, in the screenshot below, Waypoints, Routes, and Saved Trails will be visible on the map, and Tracks and Areas will be hidden on the map.
Show or Hide Individual Items
Use the Saved Items Sidebar to show or hide individual routes, tracks, waypoints, folders, and areas:
1. From the main map, click the Saved folder icon to open the Saved Items Sidebar
2. Next, find an individual item by either using the search bar, clicking 'All Items' to view all of your saved data in the sidebar list, or selecting a specific data category to locate the individual item.
3. Hover over the individual item and click the eye icon to hide or unhide an item on the map.
Search, sort, and filter items to find them more easily
1. Searching for items
Click the magnifying glass search bar to search by name.
Note: When viewing a specific Saved Item category, such as Waypoints, the search bar automatically switches to that category and searches only within that data type.
2. Sorting items
Click the sort icon to reveal the different "Sort By" options. After choosing a "Sort By" option, choose a "Sort Direction."
3. Filtering items
Click the filter button to reveal the different filter options.
When viewing the 'All Items' category, you can also filter by type of item (area, route, track, waypoint, folder):
For any data category, you can also filter by current visibility (visible or hidden):
Show or Hide Folders
You can have more control over showing and hiding items from the map if you organize with folders. For more information, see: Managing Folders on gaiagps.com
Folder Visibility Notes:
- Hiding a folder hides all data in the folder.
- Showing a folder shows all data in the folder.
- Similar to Map Overlays, a ‘visible’ folder can contain both shown and hidden items.
Coordinate Grids
To show or hide coordinate system grids, like latitude/longitude or UTM, see View and Add Coordinate Grids on gaiagps.com.
Waypoint Labels
To show or hide waypoint labels on the map, follow these steps:
- Click the Saved icon in the left sidebar
