Gaia GPS Backup and Data Safeguards for iOS

To avoid data loss, please use one of the following backup mechanisms before doing a major update of your device, or Gaia GPS:

• Syncing
• iCloud Backup
• Export Data

Syncing

Enable syncing with gaiagps.com and sync your data automatically all the time. You can verify your data is successfully backed up if you can see it in your account on the web:

To manually force a sync, follow these steps:

• Open Gaia GPS > Settings > Account > tap Last Sync
• When finished, it should show the current time next to Last Sync, but depending on how much data is syncing, it could take a few minutes
• If you have a lot of data, such as photos, to sync, be sure to:
  • Open Gaia GPS > Settings > Power Saving > Set "Keep screen on" to "on"
  • Leave the Gaia GPS app in the foreground
  • Plug your device in and let it sync overnight if possible

iCloud Backup

Do an iCloud backup before major updates, or on a regular cycle.

Export Data

Export your data from Gaia GPS before an update.

• Export photos from the iOS app
• Export Data as GPX or KML from the iOS app
