This article will show you how to edit a saved route on gaiagps.com. Currently, you can choose to edit your saved route with either the sidebar or full-width route editor.
Edit a Saved Route with the Sidebar Editor
1. From the main map, click on the Saved Items folder icon in the left sidebar.
2. Next, select the route you'd like to edit. The map will center on that route.
3. To edit the title, color, position, direction, or notes of the route, click "Edit Route". Alternatively, if you just want to change the title or add notes, you can simply click the pencil icon.
4. To change the color of the route, click the color icon to the left of the title, then select a color from the palette.
5. To edit the route title, click on the title text so the cursor appears in the title bar, and then you can customize the title.
6. You can edit the route direction in these ways:
- Reverse the route.
- Click Reverse to reverse the entire route direction. The direction arrows on the route line will change, and the elevation profile will update.
- Out & Back
- Out & Back will route the end of the route back to the start.
- Close Loop
- The route will navigate the route on the quickest route back to the start
- Drag the line to a new location
- Drag a route point to a new location
- Delete existing route points
- Add a new point to the end of the route
- Change the routing mode if necessary
7. To save any changes you make, click the Save button. To discard any changes, click Cancel.
Edit a Saved Route with the Full-Width Editor
We recently released the new Full-Width Editor on the web. It's the same route planner you love, but with a new full-width layout, so you can plan smarter. Follow these steps to learn how to use the Full-Width Route Editor:
1. From the main map, click on the Saved Items folder icon in the left sidebar.
2. Select the route you'd like to edit.
3. To edit the saved route with the New Route Editor, click Edit Route
4. If the Full-Width Route Editor doesn't automatically open, click the green "Full-Width Editor" button at the top of the edit route details page to activate the Full-Width Route Editor.
5. To select a routing mode for your route, select the Routing Mode menu icon and then select the preferred routing mode.
6. To change the color of the route, click the color icon to the left of the title, then select a color from the palette.
7. To edit the route title and notes, click on the pencil icon. After you make any edits to the title or notes, click save in the edit box.
8. You can edit the route direction in these ways:
- Reverse the route.

- Out & Back
- Out & Back will route the end of the route back to the start.
- Close Loop
- The route will navigate the route on the quickest route back to the start
- Drag the line to a new location - click anywhere on the route and drag the line to the desired location
- Drag a route point to a new location
- Delete existing route points - click on the route point and select delete
- Add a new point to the end or middle of the route
9. Hover over the interactive elevation profile graph to see corresponding locations along your route. The Full-Width Route Editor graph shows the selected location's distance, elevation, and grade.
10. To save any changes you make, click the Save button. To undo or redo any changes, click the undo/redo arrows. To discard any changes, click Cancel.
Please note that you can return to the Sidebar Editor at any time by clicking the Sidebar Editor button
