If a map layer is not showing on the map, follow these troubleshooting steps.
If you are having trouble with the Private Land layer, use the steps below and look in the Feature/Weather Overlays category.
If you are experiencing blurry maps offline, it may be that you have not saved the maps for offline use. Here are the steps: Download Maps for Offline Use
If you are connected to service and map layers are not loading properly, try these steps:
iPhone/iPad
1. Make sure the map layer is active and the opacity slider is all the way to the right:
Add, Layer, and Change Map Sources in the iOS app.
2. If that's not the issue, try removing the layer from the map menu:
- Open Layers menu (upper right or lower left corner of Map tab, looks like 3 pieces of paper) > Add map layers (at bottom) > **Category** > **Map Layer** > X Remove. This will delete this layer from any Saved maps, but you can download the maps again later.
- Force close Gaia GPS
- Wait 30 seconds
- Open Gaia GPS and re-add the map source. Layers menu > Add map layers (at bottom) > **Category** > **Map Layer** > Add.
- Make this layer active on the map again with these steps: Add, Layer, and Change Map Sources in the iOS app.
Android
1. Make sure the map layer is active and the opacity slider is all the way to the right:

2. If that's not the issue, try removing the layer from the map menu:
- Open Layers menu (upper right corner of Map tab, looks like 3 pieces of paper) > + Add Layers > **Category** > **Map Layer** > Toggle off. This will delete this layer from any Saved maps, but you can download the maps again later.
- Force close Gaia GPS
- Wait 30 seconds
- Open Gaia GPS and re-add the map source. Layers menu > + Add Layers > **Category** > **Map Layer** > toggle on.
- Make this layer active on the map again with these steps: Add, Layer, and Change Map Sources in the Android app
Web
1. Make sure the map layer is active and the opacity slider is all the way to the right:

2. If that's not the issue, try removing the layer from the map menu:
- Open Layers menu (left sidebar, looks like 3 pieces of paper)
- Hover over the thumbnail to the left of the map layer name and the click on the "i" icon
- Click Remove Layer
- Refresh the web page
- Add the map layer again with these steps: Add, Layer, and Change Map Sources on gaiagps.com
