This article will show you how to download maps for a track, route, or area in the iOS app. You can use the 'Download Maps for Track, Route, or Area' feature to download an offline map that follows your track, route, or area. This downloads 5 map tiles (individual images that make up a digital map) on either side of your route or track. Because the tile size is different for different sources, the width of the map may vary slightly depending on the selected map source and the location of the track/route/area.
Download Maps for a Track, Route, or Area in the iOS app
1. Find a saved track, route, or area from the Saved menu.
2. Tap the item in the list to open the details page.
3. Tap More and choose "Download Maps for Track/Route/Area."
4. Select map sources to download and the desired resolution.
5. Tap Next, and then on the details page edit the title if desired, then tap Save.

I've tried this, but it doesn't seem to work! First it takes a (very) long time before my Iphone had calculated the download size for the maps, and then the 'lightest' version I can download is still 22GB! Am I doing someting wrong?

You can un-archive your maps when you need them.
Hi Ashli, it sort of worked to download the maps, had to lower the zoom rate though. Hope this still gives enough detail to find my way along the route! Thanks for your help!
