Compass icon in upper right

I'm new to GAIA...but why does a compass icon appear in the upper right of my screen and then disappear. I love having it in view. How do I get it there and be able to toggle it on or off if I desire? Thanks

  The compass in the upper right corner of the map that designates the orientation of the main map is displayed whenever the “Map Rotation” option is toggled on and the main map is rotated.
  
  The “Map Rotation” setting can be accessed by long pressing the Full Screen icon (iOS/Android).
