Add map segments in MB Tiles format?

I use the open-source  QGIS program to import and georeference old maps of Hawaiʻi. I have a beautiful raster 1901 map of Hawaiʻi Island that I am breaking into small segments in the .mbtiles (MB Tiles)  format. Some mobile mapping apps import that format but Gaia gives an error message when I try to bring in a segment. I would like to find a QGIS - Gaia pathway. Is there any way to convert my MB Tiles segments into a format acceptable to Gaia?

  Hey Jan,

  You can do this in the app!

  - Import maps using MBtiles or GeoTiff in iOS

  - Import maps using MBtiles or GeoTiff in the Android app
