Complete fail in understanding how to edit/store/display routes

After 6 months of intense playing with the software I am still completely baffled by routes, tracks, importing same, editing them, displaying them and so on. I will happily pay someone to do a teleconference or screen share session to help me understand how I've messed this up so badly.
Of the *many* problems I've encountered, these are the ones that are severe.
1) I recorded a track of a Jeep trail I was on last fall. Unfortunately I left it recording all the way home, so I had hours worth of unneeded mapping data. So I went in and tried to edit the route with the little slider thing in the Android app. Unfortunately I cut off too much so the entire track is cut off less than halfway through, and I can't figure out how to undo it.
2) After coming home from the above trip, I exported the data as a GPX file. Now I can't figure out how to import that back in to Gaia and save it as a track (even with the hours of useless data). There doesn't seem to be any way for me to edit a GPX that I have been able to find. I tried 9 or 10 different programs and I'm too dumb to use any of them.
The END RESULT I'm trying to achieve is to restore that trail ride (without the ride home afterwards) as a track, save it, and be able to bring it back up as needed the next time I'm in the area.
3) I cannot figure out how to import and store a GPX file, but **NOT** have it always on the screen. I am interested in doing a very complex itinerary but I just want to store it somewhere until I'm ready to undertake the trip. I can't hide it. So when I was out on a ride yesterday I was seeing hundreds of waypoints for that big GPX itinerary all superimposed on the roads I was actually driving. I tried to hide the big GPX itinerary but I deleted it accidentally.
Basically I need to acquire the expertise to use this software and become functional with it before we start out on a massive cross-country overlanding trip in August or September. I'm afraid I'm no further ahead with the software than when I subscribed last summer.
As I said, I would be more than happy to pay an expert user for their time in getting my problems sorted.

Sorry for the trouble getting started with Gaia GPS. I will answer your questions below:
1) Unfortunately, once you have cropped a track and saved it, you can't revert to the original track.
2) You can import GPX files to Gaia GPS following the steps here:- Import GPX, KML, KMZ, GeoJSON, or FIT Files on gaiagps.com
- Import GPX and KML files into the Android app
The only editing you can do to a recorded track within Gaia GPS is to crop it on either end in the app. If you need to more extensively edit a track, I recommend you export your track as a GPX file and use an editing program like Adze or GPX Editor to make changes to your track.
3) You can hide data on the map by following the steps here:- Show or Hide Saved Data on the Map in the App
