Snap-to-trail Doesn’t Work Well When Zoomed In
On iOS, be it iPhone or iPad, when creating a route, the snap-to-trail feature doesn’t work well when the map is zooomed in and you go ahead and place a waypoint. Suddenly the routing to this new waypoint from the last one goes into a Straght Line mode from the Hiking mode.
In such a situation, the only option is to delete the current waypoint, zoom far out and place another waypoint, and then it starts working again. In addition to normal routing, this issue also affects a situation when, you want to zoom in because you want to place the waypoint more precisely or when there are alternate route and you want to take a different route, which requires you to zoom in.
This somewhat less than expected behavior I have seen right since the beginning since more than a year I have been using GAIA, which means it has been an issue across multiple releases.
This issue needs a fix.
