Using Downloaded Maps vs Saved Routes
When I use (i) a downloaded map (that contains a route) or (ii) a saved route - to open the Main Map - the display on the Main Map seems the same to me. Does it matter when I'm offline which I use to open the Main Map when I start my hike with intent to follow my saved route? I'm using iOS.
Lastly - I generally do my route making on Gaia.com (on a Mac in Safari). However I cannot see how to save a map there for download to my iOS app. Am I missing something? I Have to wait for the saved route to appear on my App - and then create the map to be downloaded.
Thanks

1) Downloaded maps and routes are independent items and stored separately in the app. However, when they are viewed on the main map, Gaia GPS layers the routes and downloaded maps so you can view them seamlessly. When you are offline, doing Show on Main Map for your downloaded map should be sufficient.
2) Currently, the create route feature on gaiagps.com does not include an option to download an offline map for the recently created route; however, you can use the Send to App option when searching for a trail, place, or park on gaiagps.com to send the boundaries for an offline map to your device.0
