WHY DO YOU KEEP MAKING THIS APP WORSE-- WHERE ARE LAYERS????
Umm…where are layers? That is the reason I use Gaia. I guess everyone needs to move to Goat Maps if you developers are dead set on killing what used to be the best map app out there.

On Android, I finally figured out where it went:
- click on “Hike” at the bottom. This is confusing, as it's actually not “start hiking”, but “maps suitable for hiking”. This will change as you change maps
- Custom tab
- Map overlays
- Layered maps: on
At that point, it looks how I remember the layering UI looking.
And, then you will have a big “Custom” button on the bottom of the map instead of “Hiking”.
The same is true on the web-based UI: custom, layered maps toggle on. But the UI is a lot more discoverable.

Still available. Change ‘goat mode’ (hilarious) to Custom.
I agree and do not like a single thing about this change. I don't see a way to hide the ‘goat mode’ icon on the map either. Maybe I'm missing it. The only way this change could be good is if one can create their own goat modes.
The day layers disappear is the day I cancel.
