Zoom level information for download purposes
When downloading a map, how do I know what zoom level to choose? There exists no feedback (that I am aware of) that lets me know what particular zoom level I am currently observing, so how do I choose between zoom levels? I take the most detailed when I have the space, but if the download size is unwieldy I take a wild-ass guess at what zoom I might need.
It would be awesome if the zoom level could be displayed on the map, during the “download maps” process. Then I could zoom in and out to see what zoom level corresponds to which level of detail, and use that information to make my choice.
i realize that this might not be quite as simple as I make it, due to raster/vector mapping differences, and level of detail displayed, etc, but surely there’s some way to assist the selection?

@mholmes
Thanks for your feedback about displaying the zoom level on the map.
We just wrote a new help center article about this to help answer your questions: Choosing a Zoom Level for Downloaded Maps -
That blog post is great, thanks Jim!
However, what we need is an indication what zoom level the currently shown map corresponds to. It should be pretty trivial to add this to the "Current map info" panel:
