RED ALERT does not provide enough early warning information to be of value to the residents of CA. GAIA GPS provides a FIRE MAP (not sure how often it updates, could you let me know) which can be useful in locating the FIRE relative to my location. If GAIA could add a WIND VECTOR MAP, then I could do a much better job of predicting the PATH of the FIRE; thus giving residents much more time to make a decision to pack up and get the hell out of there! We still are relying on CELL towers to be functional (not burned down), but RED ALERT also failed with tower destruction in the Paradise fire that killed 88 people.
Of course, once and if the RED ALERT does make it out to all the affected ZONES in a county, then the resident has to hope that the resident picks the correct exit roads so as to avert a fire whose present direction and location are not known. RED ALERTS also don't pass any information to the residents as to the predicted PATH of the fire.
GOOGLE MAPS may be the platform to have the OFFICE OF EMERGENCY SERVICES visit to see how Google shows the user (i.e. resident in our case) where the traffic patterns are congested, thus allowing the resident to make a decision too take other possible escape routes.
Not sure GAIA wants to venture into helping the escaping residents determine the roads for exit, but GAIA seems more than capable to add a WIND VECTOR MAP to their overlay package. This would provide many communities some needed resources for saving lives.
