I agree. Cumulative elevation gained or lost is what I am looking for.

    Hi there,

Thanks for posting - we appreciate the feedback. Currently, the ascent stat displayed for track recordings is cumulative.

As a hiker, I can definitely see the benefit of also seeing the min and max elevation reached during a trip and encourage others interested in this stat to upvote this post to show their support.

Thanks for the reply. I hope folks upvote this! Min/Max Elevation would be trivial for you guys to add, so I think as a former software nerd.

I'll check the ascent stat you display. It didn't seem cumulative to me but I'll have a look at some tracks and get back to you on it. Thanks again.

I look at some tracks and indeed the ascent stat does seem cumulative. I thought I'd seen the ascent number decrease while on a hike and that should never happen if cumulative. I'll keep a closer eye on that next time.

Now all we need are the simple line items for min and max elevations. Thanks!

I agree, as a new Gaia user Living in the high desert of Southern California, and a long time back country navigator user, I strongly recommend adding a feature to graphically represent elevation changes on a hike. Most of my hikes include 600 to 1200 foot elevation changes — A graphical representation of elevation on the X axis and number of miles on the Y axis allows hikers/backpackers to plan routes Especially for groups, that will be within specific ranges of difficulty And degrees of effort specific To various parts of a hike. Please add this feature and please of vote this post if you agree
