Downloading high zoom levels

In another post it was indicated that if an area is selected twice for download, Gaia is smart enough to only download the needed tiles.  Due to the challenges in downloading a large area at a high zoom level, would it be possible to select and download a large area at relatively low zoom level, then select the same area again and download an additional zoom level.  Basically, download the same geographic area multiple times, but each time just increase the zoom level?  Is Gaia smart enough to realize it has already downloaded zoom level 13, so this time it only needs to download zoom level 14, etc.

 

Hopefully, this question makes sense.

  Yes, Gaia GPS will check the areas you have previously downloaded and will only download the map tiles you need.
