Road markers, black diamonds

I’m seeing small black diamonds at regular intervals on some roads on the gaia topo map. They do not show on the legend. What do these indicate?

  it could be a trail rating I know when add a trail to open St maps which is the base layer that gaia uses it can appear with different colored diamonds to reflect the difficulty of the trail I'm assuming it would show this on a road too if it was rated that way
