Elevation Error

Nope, it never went away. I still get very different "boots on the ground" ascent/descent vert numbers from my hardware devices as compared to the estimates provided when I create routes. Unfortunately, I can't reliably plan my adventures using Gaia's numbers.

So seconded. I wish the blocking and tackling aspects would get fixed first instead of continuing to  release new features like map packs, etc.

Definitely a problem in my android app. Others ask me what the gain was after a trip and now I say , "I can't tell you because I know Gaia is way low." I've seen it begin to subtract total elevation as I began going downhill .. 40% may be true. I've seen it be 1000 feet low on a 4000 foot climb.

Yes, this is incredibly frustrating especially when I am trip planning or writing about a trail and I need accurate information. I submitted this as a problem again recently but its been going on for years.

Hello, I'm reopening this subject because the problem is still there.
Compared with official tracks and other applications (Openrunner), Gaia GPS considerably increases the positive and negative elevation changes. This is really annoying because it distorts the data when you want to prepare the stages of a trek.

Do you plan to change this? If not, I'm going to change applications.

I went ahead and canceled my subscription.  Use Caltopo and Alltrails.  Interestingly, I was getting reliable gain and loss when creating routes in the High Sierra, but wildly inaccurate when creating routes in Canyonlands Island in the Sky.  Reported, but I don't think they will ever fix this issue.

PS Caltopo has a bit of a learning curve but is very powerful.  I love it!
