Check Downloads Erases Downloaded Maps

Among many other problems with downloading and syncing, which make it essentially useless, I have found that the "Check Downloads" feature in Android now actually erases downloaded maps. It turns them gray and the "resume download" button reappears. Selecting that starts a new download. Happens predictably over and over, but only on some maps. Anybody else see this?
