Ascent/Descent cumulative question - again
Hi, I have seen similar posts over the years as the one I am submitting right now.
I use and lg V60 Android phone to track my hikes using Gaia. For long hikes on a mountain, the ascent/descent numbers do seem a bit conservative. But I would also like to use Gaia for tracking my exercise hiking along a short trail we call the Hell Hill, which is all-up going up and all-down going down (no intermediate hills or valleys). This route has about a 92' elevation difference. I typically hike this down and up repeatedly to get some cardio and leg benefits, and would like to continue increasing my repetitions and be able to determine the cumulative up/down without having to keep track of the actual elevation change and the number of reps i am doing to calculate it mentally. For example, yesterday I did 12 repetitions, which should be cumulative ascent/descent of about 1080'. However, Gaia reports the stats as 75(-96) on my Android app, and 82(-100) on the web app. I understand the algorithm is doing some smoothing, but both of these are waaaayyy off. What would be nice would be to have a setting that can be adjusted to weaken the effects the smoothing algorithm a bit.

I'm having the same problem on my Google pixel 7 pro when I train on a 95-ft elevation Hill near my house up and down it records the first accent and decent and then it keeps the same figures without calculating the laps I never had this problem when I had gaiah on my iPhone which I no longer have

I've noticed this on mountain traverses -- ie, starting high and ending high. I dropped 500ft and regained 400ft, and Gaia on my Pixel 7 Pro said it was an ascent of 130ft.
When I exported the gpx and then re-imported, it gave me the right values.

I've always viewed these figures with distrust. However, a recent hike said I'd dropped 381ft and only climbed 8ft, which was total nonsense. Does anyone know if a support ticket has been raised on this issue?
