GaiaGPS - Why did I get a route, and not a hike?

I created a route on GaiaGPS.com, deliberately choose a hike. I did this because I wanted to transfer it to my GPS, which is way more energy efficient than my phone. When I exported it and sent it to the GPS, I was puzzled by the display, so I edited it. Sure enough, it was a route, not a track. So I made it a track. Then I came back here, and looked in my hikes. Not there. Wait! I just created it! It /looks/ like it was created as a driving route, not a hike. That means, ironically, that I now need to import my "track" into Gaia, where it was created!!! Sure enough, it is on my phone as a driving route. I don't see how to convert it back to a hike in Gaia.
