Switch between routing types while planning

Is there any plan to implement a feature so that we can switch between routing types while planning, a la RideWithGPS?

When planning backcountry routes, a lot of the time there is a clear track on the satellite that is not yet on the OSM. On RWGPS, you can simply switch to "straight line" and connect two existing roads then switch back to hiking/biking for routing the rest of the route. This is obviously very useful for backcountry navigating, especially on the fly if you have to make a detour.

It is very cumbersome to end the route, create a 100 meter straight line route, then start a new one just for some missing OSM data.
