"This route is unsupported on Apple Watch"

I just got an Apple Watch and have been trying to send some routes (which I've converted from tracks) to it... so far, every one I've tried has given me a "This route is unsupported on Apple Watch" message... does anyone know what kind of routes are (or are not) supported on Apple Watch.  

I've tried both tracks which I originally  recorded, and tracks that I've uploaded from GPX files.

    I should have left the OS/versions I'm using:

    IPhone:

    IPhone 11

    iOS: 15.3.1

    Gaia App: v2022.2

     

    Apple Watch:

    Series 7, Model 2474

    watchOS 8.3

    Not sure what version of Gaia watch app it is, but was installed for the first time this past week.

    Hello all... Zach showed me a workaround that worked... sorry, should have posted it here earlier!

    Here it is:

    • In the iPhone app, open one of the routes you've had trouble with.
    • Tap Edit > Edit Route and then tap "Save" without changing anything

     
    After following those steps, are you able to send the route to your watch?

    I'm experiencing this issue on iOS 16 & WatchOS 9, however the "edit & save" workaround in the iOS app isn't working. Any suggestions? https://www.gaiagps.com/public/rQkkMSjnFOjQufnMdo96KeZm

    I'm also experiencing this same issue.  Newest version of iOS and WatchOS.  All apps are up to date.  Every Route is giving me this same "Route Unsupported" error.

    Same here. Latest software on both watch and phone. One route will download to watch: two others won’t with the same error message. Gaia version 2022.7. Apple Watch ultra with watchos 9.0.2 and iOS 16.0.3. Edit: the open and save trick above did not work.

    This is happening to me also and the posted work around isn't fixing it yet. Oddly, I was able to send 1 route to my watch, but 3 others haven't worked. I've tried recreating those but they still don't work.

    I’m having the same issue. I have tried the edit and then save option with a few tracks and that hasn’t changed anything. I uninstalled and installed the app in my watch a couple times too. I made short routes and it still hasn’t worked. Any other ideas how to fix it?

    Same here. Was working just fine previous 6 months but now I always get the same "route unsupported" error message when pressing "send to apple watch". Doesn't seem to matter if it is a long or short route. I also removed half the downloaded maps on the watch with no change. Also tried the Edit/Save as proposed in earlier thread. No luck there either. Frustrating... Running Watch ios9.2 and ios16.2 on iphone 12

    Seems that 2 years have passed without a fix... Will this ever be resolved or has everyone given up? Is there a better alternative?
