Saved tracks disappearing

Maybe the issue isn't tracks disappearing but they're not saving?  I've tried ~ 10 times to modify an existing track then saving, closing out and reopening app or website and the time stamp on the track hasn't changed, nor does it reflect the modifications.

Just finished dealing with a similar problem on my Samsung S20.  I was out in the backcountry and went to load a saved map and they were all gone. My tracks were still showing though. Got home and my maps were still all there on gaiagps so figured I would just delete the app on my phone and reinstall. It took forever for my maps to download and when it finally did my tracks and wa points were gone. I was not happy. I ended up going to my tracks on gaiagps then selecting all I then unsyc the tracks, I then did a sync on my phone then set sync back on in gaiagps and did another sync on my phone and my tracks came back. I did the same with way points. If your maps are gone just select a few at a time or it will take forever to download. I am not very happy with Gaia that I had to come up with my own solution to their bug.

when I go to saved maps it takes 15 seconds for only 8 maps to display ( I have over 40 maps but unsynced most of them). If you have many more maps like I do it could take significantly longer to display and you may think the app has locked up which I occasionally do get with just the 8 maps. If you are having a delay in displaying any of the tracks, waypoints maps etc try unsyncing all but a few items in gaiagps and try again. Wait several minutes (or longer) for a sync to finish and see if that helps.

Gaia is extremely slow to download listed maps, and even if stored on my iPad Pro or iPhone 13 pro max will often partially loose track of the stored map list even though the storage space is still occupied. I cannot trust Gaia for emergency use under these conditions. This has gotten worse with each Gaia app update, it is clearly a programming bug, or more like a set of bugs.

    Hi Walt,

I am sorry you are having trouble downloading maps.

Will you try the steps in this article and let me know if that resolves this issue for you?

    Additionally, please try these things:

    • Map downloads require you to leave the app open on the screen (in the foreground) and leave your screen on for the map to download.  Don't switch to another app or let your screen turn off, or it will pause the download.  To stop your screen from turning off, open iOS Settings > Display and Brightness > Auto-lock > set to Never. To resume a paused download, see Pause/Resume Map Downloads on iOS.
    • Turn on auto-resume so that map downloads will automatically resume if app is closed. Tap Settings > Map Download > Toggle on Auto-resume
