Store Map Downloads of Traversed Areas

Have used Gaia for a year now for both off-roading and hiking and really love it! However when traveling backroads, sometimes we get outside of the saved maps areas. If lucky, we can sometimes pick up enough signal to be able to download the maps for the area. But if/when signal is lost or GPS is powered down, the downloads are gone. Is there a way an option can be added to save maps that had been incidentally downloaded as a part of a trip or indefinitely unless otherwise removed?
