Why do Gaia maps have no trail detail.

Using Gaia maps for years and the maps have no detail on trails in my area. Since the app is used most by hikers it seems like some detail regarding trails would be available. I have googled and researched this issue and tried all suggestions but still cannot see any trail detail no matter how popular the trail is.

  The gaia topo map roads and trails are rendered from the Open Street Map database.  You can add your local trails yourself if you want to, based on your own GPS tracks or GPS tracks uploaded to the OSM database by others.  The OSM tag that gaia uses to render trails is highway=path.
