Reminder Waypoints?

Is there a way to create a reminder of some sort to perform a task when you get in the vicinity of a specific waypoint?  An example would be simple reminder to start recording my trek when I get to the trailhead.  Another would be a reminder to contact base when I’m near certain areas to see if I need to check on anything in that area (think remote campsites, etc.).

I know there are apps that can create a reminder based on location, but I haven’t found one that will allow me to work natively from a map interface. Any suggestions are most welcome!
