I have run Gaia for a couple of years now, love it. I primarily use it for overlanding and hunting when I am way off the beaten path. Up until this year I ran Gaia on an iPad, and simply put the iPad on the dash. Dropping pins/waypoints, recording tracks, displaying tracks, seeing all data (elevation, coordinates), all of that functionality is what makes Gaia supreme. 

That brings me up to this year. I just finished an overland rig build, and spent a few extra $$ on a nice big touch screen head unit w/CarPlay. Plug it into my iphone, open Gaia, cue the "wha wha wha" fail sound bite. The map is there, the pointer is there....that's about it. I don't need Gaia for turn by turn directions on streets/roads, that's thoroughly covered by Gman. I need Gaia for all the killer of road/trails/tracks/waypoints/off grid travel metrics I had been using it for. 

Please tell me you folks are working on enhanced functionality for CarPlay....please. This year I am going to run my iPad on the dash for recording tracks and setting waypoints, with my iPhone connected to CarPlay so we at least have a map up.
