crashing after upgrade
I upgraded from Samsung Galaxy S98+ to S10+. I used the Samsung utility to migrate my apps oer the the new phone. On the new phone, when I start Gaia, i don't see a map, it only shows checker-board pattern. When I press "layers" icon, it crashes.
I uninstalled, reinstalled. Same behavior.
Then I went to 'settings' and I set location to SD card, theni twas still crashing. I went back into settings->storage, and saw an error showing that the root folder was not set. When I tapped it, the app prompted me for the right permissions, and after I granted them, the app is now working.
So we can say that the issue was permissions after the app was migrated to a new phone, and the same issue stayed, even after the app was uninstalled/reinstalled. So in conclusion, this seems to be a bug in Gaia, where it does not behave normally if its storage permissions are not set. It should detect this, and prompt the user to set permissions, rather than force the user to go hunting for the right setting to fix the issue.
