Need recommendation for a tablet for off-road truck.
I had reasonable luck with my old Motorola One using GAIA for off-road. The GPS functionality was limited but I could save and record maps without a problem. Unfortunately after two years, the old phone started to fail. I bought a new Samsung Galaxy A12 that has been a nightmare to use with GAIA GPS. Some functionality for saving only part of a track does not work. The situation with this particular phone and GAIA GPS combination is dangerous. I would like to purchase a tablet PS to use with GAIA GPS and mount it on the dash area of my Land Cruiser. I would be glad to purchase an Apple IPad. I recently purchased an Apple iPad Pro Air (4th Gen) then learned it does not support GPS without the Cellular option. Plenty of WiFi pads are available but few with Cellular.
Can someone recommend a good tablet that will work with GAIA and support GPS in areas without cell service?

I've been using a Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8 inch on a RAM mount in my Jeep since November 2019. I bought the cellular version, but have never put a SIM chip in it. I have the tablet in a rubber-edged case with a screen protector. The case has a nylon web shoulder strap for portable use. So far it has held up remarkably well.

In iPad world, GPS hardware is included ONLY if you buy the iPad that includes the cellular hardware package. For my 4Runner, if I was going buy a tablet for dashboard use, I'd get an iPad mini. The Land Cruiser has a more spacious interior, so maybe a full size iPad works. But you gotta get the cellular-equipped iPad.
