Unable to download map
AnsweredI have a premium membership and checked to make sure that I am logged in. I am. I have three other sections of the Western US states already downloaded. Gaia Topo (feet). When I attempt the 4th section, I get the following message:
Unable to download map
Gaia Topo (feet) maps can not be downloaded for offline use due to restrictions from the map provider.
This canʻt be right. The big reason to pay for a premium membership in the first place is map downloads.

Iʻve gone back and forth with Gaia support a few times. The support person blamed it on the size of the download I was attempting. Not so sure about that. I had just completed far larger downloads, like one of California and Nevada. When I shrank the download to just one state, like New Mexico, I still got the same message.
So after numerous attempts, I found that size might be a factor - sometimes - but the real culprit is internet speed. I have DSL through my phone company, with a limit of 10 mbs. I test the speed regularly. That's it. Nothing else is available where I live unless I pay for satellite internet. If one runs into the No Can Do message, the best thing is to come back an hour later and try again. Eventually the download happens.

I just realized I was getting this same error but depending on the size of the area you are trying to download you could see the text changes from white to red if it can't download the area size. If you select smaller areas it lets you download the map offline. Weird that you can't download a big chunk of area.

There are huge problems in downloading maps. Downloads are very slow--if they happen at all. Sometimes the download does not complete before I start my trip, even if I start the download several days in advance. Gaia's features are pretty awesome, but they don't work at all if there is no map downloaded for them to work on.
