    Sorry for the trouble. When your subscription expires while offline, the app should continue to allow you to access the subscription features until you are back in service, at which point you'll see a prompt to purchase a new subscription. 

    If you lost access to your subscription and your device was offline the entire time, you must have experienced a bug.  Please contact Support here and we can help you troubleshoot.

    Jim, I feel really sorry that you(Gaia) decided to answer it like that. I'm myself an Android/IOS Dev and I can assure you its not a bug.

    You guys have a local counter in the APP that expires it even if the device stays offline forever. It's a shame that practice, since it could put people in risk during an expedition. I hope you guys rethink that and remove it in future version.

    To me there's not much left, I won't risk my life using an APP that does that. When you guys set yourselves as an OffLine GPS you should really be careful with that affirmation, people could end up dead or lost, specially when you market yourselves as a viable/safe alternative to Pro OffLine GPS devices.

     

    Thanks for your answer Jim, and sorry for the hard words, I do still believe Gaia is a great app. But that behaviour is really hard to come by.

    There isn't a local counter in the app keeping track of your subscription. In theory, you could purchase a Premium membership, then take your device offline, and have a subscription forever. 

    If your subscription expires while offline, you will continue to be able to access the subscription features until your device connects to service again. 

    It sounds like that's not what you experienced though. It's possible you experienced a bug, and I'd like to take a closer look. I reached out via email about your subscriptions specifically. 

    Because of the trouble, we added a free year of Premium Membership to your account.

    Because your subscription runs through the App Store, you'll want to cancel it if you don't want it to automatically renew. Here's how to do that: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202039
