    I found on Gaia blog about new 3d feature you can also use the "shift" key and up/down and left/right keys to adjust pitch and bearing.

    The shift + arrow keys doesn't work on mine (latest Chrome). I can find no key combo that does anything other than bail out of 3D mode.

    @trailbeast

    Sorry for the trouble.

    If shift+arrow keys are not working, please try holding down control and dragging your mouse:

    • up/down to change the pitch
    • left/right to change the bearing

    If your keyboard has any customized mapping, that could affect the behavior in 3D.

    No worries. Yes! control + mouse works. Thanks!

    I have encountered the same problem on my MacBook Pro. I am not using a mouse, but the trackpad. When I press the control key and click on the widget to rotate, it pops up the menu I usually get when I control-click (which is like right clicking on a two button Windows mouse). I tried shift, command, and option, but none of those combinations with the trackpad seem to work.
