Weak (GPS) Signal
AnsweredI've sent a request to technical support, but I though I would throw this out to the group.
I'm running v.2021.6 in an iPad mini 5. Location services set to "always" for GaiaGPS.
I don't recall the version I used when I first subscribed, but I had no difficulty with "weak signal" at the beginning. I always had a strong signal. Didn't matter if WIFI was enabled or not, when I was out in the Nevada desert and in the mountains, the little triangle was right where it was supposed to be - on me.
Now, things have gone from great to horrible. Most of the time, I'm getting "weak signal" and GPS can't pick me up. Sometimes it works when I'm out in the boonies. Most of the time - the last two times - it doesn't.
I can be on a mountain top and I get "weak signal". I hard swipe the app closed, reboot and sometimes the signal finds me but more than half of the time it won't. I can turn WIFI off (even though there is no WIFI connection - as I say, it was never an issue in the past). I can turn WIFI back on, and maybe I'll get a GPS signal. Twenty minutes later, I get "weak signal" and the triangle might be in a different state!
And when I get near home - signal again! Until a few minutes ago.
Any body else seeing this issue? Is it a new problem?

Hi @tjm10025,
Sorry for the trouble you are experiencing with your GPS signal.
Can you confirm that your iPad is cellular-enabled? Only iPad's with 3G/4G capability have a GPS chip that is required to locate you while offline.
If it is, can you please try these steps?
1) Toggle your Location Services to Always: Gaia GPS isn't locating me. How do I adjust iOS location services?- Go to Settings App > Privacy > Location Services
- Set Gaia GPS access to Never and quit the Settings App
- Then relaunch Settings and turn it back to Always
2) Turn your iPad Mini on and off a couple of times. This will delete any GPS errors that may have accumulated in your device's GPS chip.
3) Make sure your iPad is not in "Low Power Mode."- iPad Settings App > Battery > Low Power Mode = OFF
