Performance slow in Safari
AnsweredPretty much unusable it is so slow. Much of the text doesn't ever load either. If I plan a route it is slow enough as to be unusable. I have not used the site since Nov/Dec but am planning a trip now.
I switched to Firefox and had no problems. But I my preferred browser is Safari.
Just me?

I had the same problem. How many layers are you downloading? The app will download the number of layers that are open when you select the area to download. I've begun using only the layers that I need, USGS, Shading, and Neo Treks (for land use), and the app is performing very well now.

Thank you for the reply. I was using Gaia Topo and USGS. I went down to just Gaia Topo and it was still slow. I just noticed today though that I had accidentally selected Gaia Topo (meters). I switched back to feet and the text did start loading. When I started route planning the performance might be a little better but not as fast as Firefox.

I'm not sure why folks are talking about downloading but as far as in browser performance using Safari for route creation, it has been painfully slow today, especially when I'm trying to edit a route I've created and saved previously. I have to hover a long time over the route to get the hand to appear so I can add a point and drag the route to a new location. It's been so slow as to be almost unusable (I'm trying to create routes in areas where Gaia maps has no existing trails for the snap to function to work). Very tedious. Doesn't seem to be happening when I use Chrome.

@tplusfive and @5stone,
I'm not entirely sure why, we are looking into it, but Safari tends to be a little troublesome and slower when using the main map.
In the meantime, we recommend Chrome or Firefox. You shouldn't have any issues with those browsers.
If you do though, please contact support.
