Map(s) Points of Interest

When you search and find POI’s on the map the software places an icon with the name. However you can do nothing with it. If you want to save it in your own waypoints you can’t. You can’t guide to it, start a route from it, nothing. This seems silly to me. What’s the point of placing a nonfunctional icon on the map?
why must we create our own icon and place it on top of the searched one?
Can’t the icons be made live?

You are correct. You can't do anything with these search-results-waypoints right now, but we're working on it.
In the Android version, search results waypoints can be dismissed or saved. We're working on this for the iOS version as well.
Until then, you can manually Create a Waypoint if you wish to save the location. If you want to clear these temporary waypoints, you can do so by force-closing the app.
