Create route - snap to previous track
Perhaps I am missing something, if not, will post in feature request... I have a huge amount of tracks saved of my moto rides. In my very rural area, these rides are not along any road or trail as recognized by any of the map layers. I would like to be able to create routes based on my saved tracks so that I can sit down and plan out a ride taking in this or that section of trail that I have previously ridden. Is it not possible to use the 'create route' and set it to snap to previous tracks? I don't want to use the straight line and add tons and tons of clicks to be able to get it to match up with my tracks considering these rides are often over 100 miles. Using hiking, driving or cycling mode does not work as these are trails that exist on no map. I can achieve this using Garmin Basecamp by combining tracks but that's just a hassle exporting and importing and having to use two interfaces. This seems like it should be very basic functionality... am I missing something?

Hi Brendan,
Snap-to-trail uses trails displayed on the Gaia Topo map source. This map source is based on OpenStreetMap data, an Open-source and public mapping project.
You can actually contribute your recorded tracks to OSM in order to add trails and features to the map. Read more about this and find instructions here: Contribute to OpenStreetMap
If you decide to contribute your tracks to OpenStreetMap, you'll see the changes in Gaia GPS in two to three weeks. You will then be able to use those tracks to create planned routes at Gaia GPS.0 -
So just to be clear, the answer to my question is no, it is not possible to snap to a previous recorded track? Very big lacking feature particularly considering you can't combine tracks into routes or split into segments. If I want to plan out a big ride I have to use a different software and then import.
I will keep in mind contributing to the OSM but much of what I ride is private land and owners would not approve.

Hi Brendan,
That's correct, it's not possible to snap to a route or track, sorry about that.
