New “internal” source for slope angle shading?

Hi GaiaGPS team and community,

I rely a lot on the slope angle shading for my explorations. Saw this change from “previous vendor” which I assume was CalTopo, and am now curious if anyone knows what the new data sources are and how GaiaGPS applied the data to generate the layer. It’s sometimes makes or breaks the trip for me and my students so I’d like to have a thorough understanding of this:

“For downloads created prior to 9/20/2020, this map layer was from a previous vendor. Now, Gaia GPS makes the map layer directly from expanded and higher resolution source data.”
