Image photo sequence number starts at zero

I noticed that the photos taken in the gaiagps app do not use the current apple photo sequence number.   In the screen print below, apple's sequence number is already at IMG_5893.jpg, whereas photos taken by gaiagps app have sequence number at IMG_00*.jpg.

Can't the app use and continue the apple photo sequence number?

  Hi Abe, thanks for bringing this to our attention. 
  
  I've made note of this and we'll look into a solution.
  
  As a workaround to preserve your iPhone's naming pattern, I would recommend the following:

  • Take photos with the Camera app while recording your tracks in Gaia GPS.
  • When you finish recording, associate the photos with your track like this:
