Tracking distance

I and 2 friends all have Gaia apps on our iphones.  We all hiked the same trail with each other but all of us ended up with different distances.  I recorded 8.05 miles and my friend recorded 6.75.  This happened both on the out and back.  What is the cause and how to remedy?

  Hey there, 
  
  There could be a number of reasons why the three of you received different distances for the same hike. Though, differences in GPS signal strength are usually the culprit. 
  
  If you'd like, you can contact support using the 'Contact Support' link at the top of the page and we can look into this more closely. 
  
  Please include all three of the track recordings in question. You can share them as GPX files or you can share a link to the track page on the web like this: Share your Tracks, Routes, Waypoints and Folders on gaiagps.com
