Landscape mode lock

I have have researched and it appears there is no way to lock in landscape mode in the app or in the phone settings.

  You're correct, there is no way to lock an iPhone orientation in landscape mode. Sorry about that. 
  
  You can, however, lock its orientation to portrait mode: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204547
