I'm using the Gaia Topo map layer, which is easy to read when iOS is in Light display mode, but in dark mode, the map is very difficult to read. Seems like rather than inverting the colors, you're just darkening everything, resulting in very poor contrast. The contour lines in particular are nearly impossible to read.
I would suggest coming up with an inverted color scheme for the map so that it's darker overall but there is still good contrast between the various elements on the map. Or you could just keep the map the same in both modes (ie keep it light)
I normally run my phone in dark mode but had to disable it to use the app.
