I totally agree with Chris.  This is very annoying and frustrating.  I just want to view the full screen with the current track for that day not all my other tracks on the computer.   Also the last couple of years it was nice and convenient to print a clear clutter free map.  Now my phone screen and printing is confusing to look at.  Yes I have click to not view old tracks on my phone but they are still there.  Cluttering up my viewing the map.

I am struggling with the new changes and updates that GAIA has done :(

I agree with the feature request.  For a specific trip I only want to see the items in that folder.

Absolutely agree with this feature request though I would pose it as a bug. Fullscreen view of a folder should not include non-folder contents. When it does it is simply The Map, rather than a folder.

The use case/user scenario here is when planning or viewing a new subset of routes/waypoints in a place you frequently go. My example today is Death Valley national park where I go often. Each trip I want to explore someplace else. But fullscreen view from that trip's folder gets cluttered by all my other trips.

Related to this is that when you drag the browser window larger on your screen the frame of the map view on the Folder View page doesn't resize. So no matter how large I make the folder view on my large screen the window stays the same.

I am going to bump my own request. While I am glad to see folder management is now improved online please make this happen! Turning folders on and off is not practical. I have well over 130 folders. All we ask is when you are viewing a folder and click "Fullscreen" only the data in that folder is shown.

    Thanks!

I actually don’t want this feature to be automatic although I think there should be a way to say that you only want to view info from one specific folder. There are times when I want to see data from nearby areas or folders and other times when I don’t.

@rockymountaindiva I think that would be easy to do. Just have a link for the main map. It shows everything but if you are in a folder and want full screen it only shows that folder. I would be good with a toggle as well if it defaulted to only the folder view first when starting from a folder.

I dont see why this isn't normal behavior.  When you are in a folder and click the full screen button you are simple trying to make the current map full screen.  This is standard behavior on most all maps.  But for some reason the full screen icon links to a new map with all data.   This is very annoying.   They need to add this feature.    I have hundreds of Waypoints in some folders and the small window you get to view them by default is not adequate.

So I figured out a workaround for this.  . Open your folder and click the Share link Icon to get the URL to share the folder.   Open a new Incognito window in Chrome so you have a web browser open that is not logged into Gaia. You could also open a different web browser that you are not authenticated to Gaia.  Then paste the URL for the folder and you can now make the folder full screen with only the folder shown as you do not have access to any of the other information.

    Hi all,

Good news! Selecting a Folder in the sidebar at gaiagps.com now highlights the contents of that Folder, while reducing the visibility of all other saved items.

You can access this functionality either by selecting the Folder in the list of saved items in the sidebar, or by clicking on the Folder name in the sidebar to drill down into its contents.

Well,  That is not really much help. As you can still the rest of your waypoints when you filter like this.  It doesn't hide the waypoints or tracks that are not in that folder it simply gives them some transparency.  While this is a nice feature it doesn't really work for what users are wanting.   For instance I want this feature as I am working on adding waypoints for every location I have camped and then take some screenshots of this.  But all my other waypoints are still on the map, just with a transparency applied. So this doesn't really help me take screenshots to show just the waypoints in the folder I have created.

The workaround I found and outlined in my last post is a way I found to achieve what I am trying to do.

As you can see below the feature you have added does not really work.  Also the feature you guys have added only works when the sidebar is open.  You cannot highlight a specific folder and then close the sidebar to achieve full screen.

This is a nice feature, I do appreciate it.  It does not fit what I think users are wanting in this thread.

    Hi PNWCherokee,

Yeah, I see what you mean and how this doesn't quite solve your use case. I've opened another feature request that's explicitly about what you all are looking for here.

I can see how this would be useful for planning, taking screenshots and printing. Are there other reasons you'd want to hide everything but the contents of a folder from the map?

Mainly for printing and screenshots.  Its also nice when you have hundreds of waypoints or routes and want to view specific ones that relate to a folder.   Really what this feature request should be, is when viewing a folder and you click the full screen button on the map. We would like the current folder map to go full screen and only display that current folders content.  For some reason instead of simply taking the current map to full screen, the full screen button links to a new page that displays everything.

I really needed this feature today. I don't know where to turn. Not being able to show only items within a folder for printing is so disappointing. I have to now export a KML file and find another program to try printing from.

I thought there was a workaround when I saw the print button from the small map in the folder view. But no, it goes to the combined map for printing. The fact that the small map works means that this should be a trivial feature to implement.

Is this still not possible? This limitation makes it impossible to print coherent maps when trying to drill down to a folder and its contents, and thus limits/eliminates the usefulness of putting items in folders in the first place. Anyone have a solution?

So there is a way.   If you open the folder,  click the share button and copy the link.   Then open Chrome in Incogneto mode or another web browser so you are not logged into Gaia  and then open the link.  You will be able to see all of the waypoints, routes, etc in that folder and can go full screen.   But I have never found a way to view it with being logged into your account.

Right, I saw that option above and tried it out, but I still was not able to print (in order to get a high res version) without logging in, which of course then shows all the data rather than just that one folder. Would be great if Gaia would implement this feature! Thanks for your help though!
