Sync Status
AnsweredI am having issues with my iPad not syncing to the cloud. This has brought to light that there is no sync progress or status bar. In my case it says, "in progress" and "sync incomplete" but no status bar or anything to tell me if any syncing is being done or percent complete etc.
I would like to have a status bar showing this.

I am having the same problem with my Android phone. No many how many times I try to force a manual sync (but tapping the "last sync" line in settings - it ends with "sync incomplete." I have never had a problem with this before.
Any thoughts or help Gaia support?

Also having synch problems with iPhone XS. Attempt to force synch with MacBook Air, but recently (the last week or so) all I get is "In Progress" followed by "Synch Incomplete."

I also have the same issue with iOS. This is pretty unacceptable for a subscription based application. For me, Gaia is essentially useless without the syncing capabilities between mobile and browser. Not sure what's going on but Gaia needs to get its cloud SLAs in line. Very much considering swapping to a more reliable competitor:

Same problem here w/ Android. I like the progress indicator or at least something other than a buried indication of failure. Best of all would be to fix the broken syncing. It's a key feature for us avid hikers and hike leaders who are paying customers.

I complained about this issue and they told me that there's a bug and that they're beta testing a fix. This is a serious bug that prevents paid subscribers from being able to use the product the way they need to -- especially an issue where you are about to go out and realize your device could not sync.

I'm having the same sync problem with my iPhone XR. Is there a timeline for a fix as described in this thread. I've had GAIA since 2014 and I have yet to have this problem. As indicated by others, this is exasperating as I'm out every weekend and need this feature to work seamlessly. Any official update would be appreciated.

Yay, the beta synched for me. Thanks! A more conspicuous indicator of success/failure/progress would still be welcome.

It has been solved with your help. Thank you very much!!

My sync issues seem to be solved. I will say that they started when I made significant edits and changes to my folder structure as well as added several routes via gaiaonline.
I still think a sync status indicator would be useful and easy to add.
thank you for an overall great product.

I am also having issues with not being able to sync my android phone and sometimes no sync with iPad. I keep getting “sync incomplete “
Please fix this urgently as it appears to be a common problem that should not be happening!

For anyone that stumbles on this post, definitely some kind of a weird bug here. Logging out and back in seemed to fix it. I had some weird looking email address, which prompted me to try logging out/in, i'm guess it's a sort of proxy email was used when i signed in last.

@henry.pham (and anyone else who stumbles on this post),
If you skip the sign-in/login page when launching the app, a procedurally generated user ID will be created for you. This is what you saw.
You are correct that logging in will resolve sync-related issues related to this. But, instead of logging out, the best solution is to tap "Change Email" and enter the email associated with your Gaia GPS account and password.
If you have any issues please Contact Support here.

I had wiped the OS on my iPad (ios14) and then had the never ending (multi day) sync progress. I took @Chris Hill s suggestion above and clicked "change email", immediately synced after that

Any word on an app fix for this issue? I've logged in and out on my iPad Pro (2020), as well as removing and reinstalling the app, but the "Last Sync" shows as "In Progress" indefinitely. Issue seems to be the same on iPhone 11 Pro running latest iOS

Hey Andrew,
If Last Sync shows the spinning "in progress" icon, then the app is still syncing. When you first log in, the app needs to pull down all your data from the cloud. Sometimes the initial sync after logging back in for the first time can take a while if you have a lot of data.
As long as the spinner is spinning, it's doing its thing. I recommend leaving the app open and plugged in for a while. If you see the error message "sync incomplete" however, please contact support.
