Split-screen / Split map window - like Hillmap

I love the split-screen functionality of www.hillmap.com, what a fantastically useful feature! It's super handy to have a map on one side and satellite on the other and have them pan in sync.

I use it Hillmap frequently for that purpose but I dearly miss all my maps/layers and data that is in gaia. It would be great if such a mode was created in gaia, probably only necessary on web version, i can't see using it on the smaller display of a phone... maaaaybe on a large tablet i guess.
