Quick Distance
Hello,
I'd love to see Gaia develop a quick distance measure feature. Sample use cases include: There is a storm on that ridge, how far away is it, What's the sright line distance between those two lakes, etc. I've seen several apps successfully implement this functionality. In my opinion, the most elegant is the expandable two finger "rubber band" method used by the aviation app Foreflight. Additionally, the weather app, RadarScope, takes a different approach and lets you expand a circle radius from your current location (useful for how far away is that lighting strike). This is useful but only measures distance from your current location.
I'm a huge fan of Gaia and appreciate the incremental improvements that continue to add value!
Thanks,
Keith

Hey Keith,
Thanks for posting - I can see how this would be a helpful feature.
Currently, you can view the straight-line distance between 2 points by creating a straight line route:- Long press a location on the map or tap the '+' > Create Route
- Then tap mode in the bottom left> Straight line mode
- Place another point by long pressing the screen.

I would like to see a quick measure tool as well. I use the app with a satellite layer for work often. Sometimes its a quick and easy way for me to get a distance but its a pain with the new quick waypoint tap crap. I would also love it if the tool displayed the distance in feet for measurements less than a 1/4 mile or 1000' or something more "precise". I'm not looking for perfect, just something more detailed than..."0.13 miles".
