Better search results ?
Answeredi am planning a rather large baja trip down the peninsula and am trying to pre plan as much as i can. I am an avid google maps user and find most the GAIA satellite layers in pretty rough shape compared to google earth&maps. i have a few questions.
1. i will be doing all my travels via dirt bike and truck. i am trying to avoid as much paved road as possible. The only problem is i have tried every map layer and none of them really show dirt or un maintained roads. Can you suggest a better map overlay that has dirt trails? so far the only thing that seems to work as a guide is "public tracks" and i also cant figure out how to turn that on on android.
2.when searching using the search bar on both the desktop version and the android version i rarely get any correct results {or results at all} these are all things that come right up in google maps. such examples are Punta Cono, Punta Maria, Punta Lobos, Punta Rosco , EL Marrron , etc
2.a Possibly a map layer with all these places already labeled?
Im sure ill think of more, any help would be rad, thanks!

Hi there,
Thanks for posting. I organized your questions inline below:
Can you suggest a better map overlay that has dirt trails?
For Baja California, I recommend:
so far the only thing that seems to work as a guide is "public tracks" and i also cant figure out how to turn that on on android.
In the app, the Discover tab has an organized list of trips you can browse which were created from public tracks and known routes.- Tap 'Discover' in the center of the bottom menu bar to start exploring.
2.when searching using the search bar on both the desktop version and the android version i rarely get any correct results {or results at all} these are all things that come right up in google maps. such examples are Punta Cono, Punta Maria, Punta Lobos, Punta Rosco , EL Marrron , etc
Search results in Gaia GPS are based on places/features marked on OpenStreetMap sources like Gaia Topo. It looks like many of these places are not in the OpenStreetMap database. Sorry about that!
a Possibly a map layer with all these places already labeled?
Since many of these places are not marked on the map, you may be able to find a map online and import it into Gaia GPS yourself:- Most maps online are Tile Map Services (TMS).
- Here are instructions for importing a TMS source
- Please check the Terms of Service for any map service before importing into Gaia GPS, to ensure your use is compliant.
Send us an email at support@gaiagps.com if you need any help with that or have any questions.0
