Lock Track Up / Route Up
Not plannedThis non-existent feature is a deal breaker for me - track up mode does not stay 'locked in' as it should. Touching the screen in any way causes it to revert back to north up. Track up is a very intuitive way to navigate a route as the road is always in FRONT of us (as the map should be).
Also, when going off route, the track up feature is the easiest and quickest way to find one's way back to the route. If the route is to your left, you simply go left to get back on, etc.but only if 'Track Up' is enabled and STAYS enabled even when touching the screen which is necessary to zoom in or out or move the map around to locate roads and your created route. This is BASIC navigation and has been an issue here on the forum for years now - why doesn't Gaia do something to FIX this rather than losing customers?!?!

Wow! I totally disagree with the "Track up is a very intuitive way to navigate a route..." statement. Totally depends upon the user. I ALWAYS have my map with North up and so I find Track Up very disorienting. I agree, however, that it would be good to be able to reliably "lock in" which ever mode you want.

EVERY vehicle I own including my Indian motorcycle and Chevy Tahoe - along with my wife's KIA (not to mention google maps on our smart phone) have "navigate up" as the default - why would they all design their systems this way if it were not the most popular and useful of all navigation modes.

This one is a deal breaker for me also. It seems any time you touch the map screen it toggles the mode. Extremely annoying. Any plans to implement the ability to lock the screen in the mode of your choice (course up\north up)? It's a standard feature on most stand alone gps's. Why not GAIA?

Whether "track up" or "north up", or some other orientation, the point is that Gaia should have the option to lock the user's preference in place. I'm trying to survey and evaluate trails for the USFS as a volunteer and the inability to lock my preferred tracking mode is ... annoying.

this remains a blocker. i use gaia as a backup in my pocket when riding my motorycle. but i cannot use it as the primary on my handlebars since it's too much of pain to always fix this with gloves on. i would love to make gaia my primary, but i'm waiting for this feature improvement. meanwhile my garmin 700i is working great.

I'm a premium member and have a handful of Garmins. I generally have two Montanas mounted on my bars while riding in the desert. One zoomed in and the other out. I've been trying to transition to Duraforce Pros for desert riding -I have three. I just found out that Gaia does not have track up.😭. This is unbelievable as others have said. It seems so simple and intuitive. I've never used N up for active navigation. While traveling any other way than North you have to do mental gymnastics to find your way.
I like everything else about Gaia but this! Gaia please add this feature!
