I have a Chromebook that is able to run Android applications and have installed Gaia GPS to use while in my truck offroad. So far Gaia seems to work great, but it would be awesome to be able to select the SD card as an option for storage.
With only have 32GB total of on-board storage, it doesn't leave much left for maps. This obviously works fine in normal Android, but there is supposedly a slightly different process for how the Chromebooks present the storage to Android running within ChromeOS.
There are a number of apps that already can hit the SD card without issue, for example SolidExplorer has full access to the card and can manage files on it.
