It seems that the search functionality only supports coordinates that are in decimal degree format (47.025267, -121.149878). The app can be configured for different kinds of coordinate types when adding waypoints, however none of these are supported by the search functionality except for decimal.
When I plan off-road trips, I often use many different sites/resources. Some sites may provide lat/long in the DMS format (degrees, minutes, seconds) and not the decimal format (e.g. 47°01'31.0"N 121°08'59.6"W instead of 47.025267, -121.149878). GAIA search supports the latter just fine, but doesn't do anything with the former. So I have to manually locate spots on the map.
I should add that I don't always want to drop a waypoint, so using the Add Waypoint feature as a workaround is not acceptable. Furthermore, as far as I can tell, Add WayPoint doesn't let you paste coordinate info easily into all the input boxes in one Paste.
