Current location - zoom
Hi All,
When tapping the cross-hairs icon I see my current location but Gaia GPS also autozooms. For my purposes this auto zooming is too detailed and stays stubbornly at this granular level when in ‘Centered on location’ and ‘Course up’ modes.
I would like to be able to either:
- switch the auto zooming off (preferred)
- predefine the zoom range of these ‘follow location’ modes
- keep the selected zoom level once adjusted (I.e., not to keep going down to the detailed level)
I suspect this is relatively easy to implement. It would make a real difference to the utility of the tool for me!
Thanks

Auto-zoom is horrible. I do think it needs to be a setting at least (I'd rather have it be a mode on the toolbar, but maybe a setting with a toolbar button to zoom into your current location)?
When I'm driving (AZ, SE CA, UT, ...), I have to turn off the auto centering/course up mode and manually pan the map every 5 minutes or so. At the scales that matter (say in NE AZ), I generally want to see about 60 miles of the map, but with the aggressive auto-zooming, it will only stay zoomed where i put it if it's not following my location.

This seems to be a thing different for Android and iOS.
Until recently I was using a Galaxy Tab A minitablet, and there I never encountered this annoying/enraging’feature’. Now I use an IPad Mini and it constantly gets in the way.
Please guys at App Central: remove this error of thinking ASAP from the app. When offroading in a 4x4 this makes the app all but unusable. -
Car play is even worse :-( There you essentially can zoom out to your entire trip (if you're using directions) or zoom in and get the horrible "perspective" view where the scale changes between the top and bottom of the screen.
I end up using an iPad with Gaia zoomed to a 20-50 mile visible range. But I still can't put it into follow me mode because it will kill my selected zoom and put it into a closeup mode.
